The pope Clemente III (1.187-1.191) promoted the III Crusade in which three kings took part: Frederick I Barbarossa of Germany, Phillip II of France and Richard I Lionheart of England. Frederick received his name for the colour of his hair, he was dareful and valiant. After defeating many enemy's armies he was the first one in arriving to the walls of Jerusalem but he could not fulfil his deem because he died drowned in a river on June 10th, 1.190. His two allies, Richard and Phillip had to come back to their countries as the conspiracy of John Landless and the conflicts between France and England made their return necessary.
